Thailand is amazing. At first I didn’t understand all the hype surrounding it. Bangkok is the most crowded, dirtiest city I’ve ever seen. I loved this from a photography standppoint, but not for a “vacation”. So we stayed for three nights at the Marriott Resort which was awesome. From there we took an hour and a half flight to Surat Thani and hopped on a bus for 2 hours to the Harbor to then catch a 3 hour “High – Speed Catamaran” to finally arrive at the island of Koh Somui. Whew! We stayed at the new Renaissance Resort and Spa which was really beautiful. After exploring the island for a few more days, we headed further south to the very remote island Ko Tao.

After arriving here I finally “got it”. I understood the allure and attraction of Thailand. The island is very small and known as a scuba divers paradise. Dre and I dove and it was really one of the best dives I’ve ever done. Thousands of fish I’d never seen and unbelievable coral reefs. We enjoyed dinners on the beach where a fresh fish dinner grilled to order right in front of us was just 6 bucks! Add to this the daily hour massages for 5 bucks and you soon understand why it’s hard to leave this paradise. We rented a 4 wheel ATV and explored the island and snorkeled in Shark’s Cove where we were told there were many sharks just before jumping in. Unfortunately we didn’t see any. I watched this boy stuggle with this dog over the frisbee for a good 45 minutes. It was so funny.
